Onyx’s mother, Iggy Azalea, is many things: A model, rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born on June 7, 1990, the Australian talent moved to the U.S. when she was sixteen to become a professional musician.

Her career quickly took off after releasing a music video of her song, Two Times, on Youtube. Afterward, she started singing professionally. With her first debut single, Work, in 2013, Azalea established herself as a dominant force in the music industry.

The following 2014 studio album, The New Classic, was the icing on the cake, as the song Fancy was a massive hit. It showed Azalea’s true abilities and was the best-selling single of that year.

Onyx’s father is Jordan Carter, born on September 13, 1996, in Georgia. In 2017, Carter released his first hit mixtape, Playboi Carti. It was an instant hit, establishing Carter as a rising star and earning him a spot in the mainstream music world.

He received more recognition after his debut studio album in 2018, Die Lit, which featured multiple stars, like Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi, and more. With catchy music and memorable lyrics, Jordan Carter proved himself a capable musician.

How Is the Relationship Between Onyx’s Parents?

As the son of two famous musicians, you’d think Onyx is having the childhood of a lifetime. Unfortunately, that’s far from reality.

The Beginning

Azalea and Carter met on a Europe tour in 2018, took a liking to each other, and started dating. As their spark grew, they moved in together in June 2019. Despite the challenges, it seemed that everything was great with the happy couple.

The Breakup

In December 2020, people were shocked when they announced their breakup. No one knew why at first. Fans tried to deduce the reason, sharing their opinions, theories, and speculations on social media until Iggy spilled the tea.

In a recent interview on Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast, Iggy confessed that her relationship with Carter had been going through turmoil, and she realized it wasn’t working out.

However, she decided it was best to grow up with split parents who respect each other rather than live in a hostile house with constant arguing and fighting. Ironically, their relationship didn’t involve much respect after the breakup.

The Family Feud

After the breakup announcement, Azalea said she wanted nothing but to focus on raising her son with Carter. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that easy, as Carter didn’t want to take on the responsibilities of a father.

The separated parents had their first fallout before the Christmas of 2021 when Carter dismissed the family’s Christmas plans to go out with his mistress.

That led to Azalea insulting him in public, calling him trash for not prioritizing his family. Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. During one of his interviews, Carter said that he takes care of a lot of people, including his mother, wife, and son. Iggy didn’t take this well.

She called him out on social media, saying he’s misleading his fans. She claimed she’s raising Onyx alone, as he doesn’t visit him unless he’s running away from trouble. The last straw was when Carter got arrested for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

This may come as a surprise, but Onyx Kelly has a large following on social media. His mother set up an Instagram account to celebrate her handsome little man.
